I started writing songs when I was 15 years old, and I'm not going to say how old I am now, but I ain't a young man no more. I won't go into the laborious details of the groups I formed and played in, but I continued to write songs for many years and performed them in a local scene in Sacramento. After many years of working a full full time job in the executive ranks (didn't leave much time for songwriting, as I worked 7 days a week. So I eventually decided to pursue songwriting in earnest and walked away from it all.
I spent an entire year learning how to and then re-recording my songs in digital format. This was quite a learning curve for me. During this time I also came out of the dinosaur age and for the first time got on the internet. I then turned to a man with proven experience in advertising and the music industry for help. While he didn't really help me get my music to a large number of people (as I had hoped for), he did show me that in order to get my music heard & accepted broadly, I had to get the songs mixed and mastered professionally (Mastering is the final step to make sure the volume of all tracks is very close to the same and that the sound is polished). He also got me connected with a genius in the field of mixing and mastering, and he helped me to create my first two self-produced CDs to very nice products. Since that time I've self-produced another 4 CDs. I've spent my share of time singing on the streets on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California (a famous walking street near the Pacific Ocean frequented by singers, jugglers, dancers, you name it - practically a 3-ring circus). I've done a lot of gigs in small venues in Los Angeles and currently do a lot in my current home town of Pensacola, Florida. But my main focus is on getting songs to you that will brighten your days and also hopefully inspire you. Most of us spend the bulk of our time working on survival basics while we privately work on our dreams. So we're in this together, and I hope I can help to brighten your day, lighten your step and share communication with you. At present, everything I've done in the past has led up to what I'm doing now - I've spent several months getting trained on how to properly mix and master songs (something I never really paid attention to because it was so damned technical). Now I'm in the middle of working on creating my next CD. And there's a song that I mixed and mastered myself (my first attempt at mastering) that I plan to include - which I would appreciate your comments about. I've made the song available here, but after you listen to it, please take a few minutes and fill in the comment box to the right of the song on that page and let me know what you think of it. All comments are welcome. Hit me with your best shot. You can listen to the song by clicking here. And please don't to forget to leave your comment on that page. But perhaps, even more vital than what I've written above, it's YOU, the listener, that makes everything matter anyway. It's been one helluva journey up to now, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. And I am continuing and will continue to create songs for you - here's hoping that you'll join me on the voyage. If you'd like to hear one of the milestones of the journey, click here to listen to my 2nd album - Seriously Unserious (it's toward the bottom of the page of songs from 5 of my albums). Thanks for being a listener and making it all matter. Lawrence Lynn
